(News and Updates) Stars of ‘Ghosts’ at the 39th Annual PaleyFest LA

April 6, 2022, ‘Ghosts‘ co-showrunner Joe Port and stars Rose McIver, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky, Devan Chandler Long attended the 39th Annual PaleyFest LA for a special screening of next week’s episode ‘Attic Girl‘ followed by a conversation and Q&A.

• Co-showrunner Joe Port said they had a list 25-30 American archetypes to inspire ghosts but not all of them were used. “I feel we’re going to meet other ghosts as we go on“.
• “I have a lot of points with my Caribbean family. The WhatsApp is blowing up,” says Danielle on how her life has changed since ‘Ghosts‘ premiere.
• Danielle revealed that Mark Hamill wrote each cast member kind notes after he said he enjoyed ‘Ghosts‘. When asked if Mark would make a season 2 appearance, the crowd cheered, and the cast said he was a dream guest star.
• Rebecca says she did extensive research for her role as Hetty, “A lot of us have really enjoyed doing a deep dive into our particular time periods…I read a lot of books.”
• “Not all groups find this sort of rapport,” says Utkarsh of his ‘Ghosts‘ cast mates.
• “You are just everything and more,” says Danielle of Utkarsh. The cast is trading many compliments with each other.
• Román spotlights the Indigenous writers in the room and the importance of representation on ‘Ghosts‘. His father was also featured on an episode.
• Since filming the pilot was disrupted by the pandemic, and they couldn’t film it for almost year.
• Danielle says she had to audition for ‘Ghosts‘ over Zoom and got into character by wearing a hat and acting over-the-top for the occasion (see related video).
• “You show up to work, which is why I get to phone it in,” Utkarsh tells Rose.
• Brandon: “This is the first time we’ve all been together in this country” since filming wrapped.
• Román  shoutout to his real-life father AND father on ‘Ghosts‘, Gregory, who’s here tonight! Rebecca coined him the “Kevin Bacon” of ‘Ghosts‘ since he’s worked with some of the cast before.
• Utkarsh giving Rose her flowers: “It all really starts with Rose. She sets the tone.”
• Asher said the bonds the cast made at the March 2020 table read sustained them for the nine months they were delayed before shooting the ‘Ghosts‘ pilot. “We became the light at the end of the tunnel for each other.”
• Sheila would like to remind everyone that Flower robbed a bank once.
