(Miscellaneous) 6 Questions with a fan: Rebecca

Who are the fans of the ‘Ghosts‘? Through these small interviews called ‘6 Questions with a Fan‘, discover some fans of the series. If you would like to be featured of these posts, do not hesitate to contact me!

Today, let’s meet Rebecca, who is also one of this site hero: a super talented writer!

  • Can you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Rebecca Bryant. I’m a teacher, wife, and step-mother. I love anything old and historical — antiques, old homes, genealogy and history in general and traveling. I don’t own an old home but would sure love to. My Twitter handle is @1HauntedGirl. I chose this handle because I’m a fan of ‘Ghosts’ and not because of any interest in the supernatural.

  • How have you discovered this series?

I’m not really into movies or television; my medium is radio as I love certain types of music. My husband and step-son are the main ones who watch TV and they saw a promo for ‘Ghosts,’ and told me about it. I felt immediately, this is the show for me! I was excited to see my first episode and have been hooked ever since.

  • How has this series impacted your life?

Last year, 2021, was an extremely difficult year in a lot of ways. Many difficult and unpleasant things came our way. When ‘Ghosts’ came along, it was like an oasis in a painful and dry desert.

Since then, I’ve turned my love for history and for ‘Ghosts’ into a new hobby. I’ve never really used Twitter to any degree but I created a account just to stay up with this show and be more involved with it through social media. In January 2022, I was inspired to create a Twitter series, Higgintoot’s History, where I tweet on a holiday or old-fashioned word and tie it to Isaac and his dialogue or story line. I’ll be running these 3-4 times a month. Its my quirky little way of showcasing some history or old-fashioned words and celebrating this character and the artistry behind him.

  • What is the character you relate the most to? And why ?

First, I have to say I love each and every character on this show! I can’t see this show being what it is without every performer. That being said, I relate to Isaac the most. I have a direct ancestor who served in the Revolutionary War, and he has an extensive documented history. As for Isaac, I wish I could be the female version of this man! The show creators and actor Brandon Scott Jones have done an incredible job in crafting this wildly expressive, beautiful and fascinating character. Not many characters can make you laugh and cry, almost at the same time, and makes you go off and think too, hoping to learn more of their story. Isaac does this.

  • Are you watching any other comedy series?

Not really. The television generally stays on for old western shows/movies for my husband.

  • Do you have a last word, anything else to share?

This is my first venture of being involved in any way with a fandom. I’m not talented enough to produce fan art or fan fiction. So, I feel very gratified to be a part of celebrating this show by helping to write for the Ghosts CBS Fans website and to run my own Twitter historical series. I wish to thank all the show creators and performers for creating something special with this show and for being as engaged as they are with the fans on social media.
