Episode Summary

The episode opens up with Sam and Jay standing in the foyer of Woodstone as it slowly gets decorated for a wedding for old acquaintances, Kenny and Liz. Liz is a social media influencer, so Sam and Jay are hoping that Liz will post pictures of their wedding at the mansion to help gain traction for the B&B. Hetty and Pete walk in, Hetty looking around at all of the decorations in awe saying that she hopes this wedding goes better than her’s, as her husband, Elias showed up late, drunk, and smelling of the maid’s perfume. Sam and Jay’s contractor Mark walks in from the powder room, saying he needs to show them something. Sam and Jay worry that it’s going to be another expense, while following him.

Once in the powder room, Mark explains that he was doing some rewiring, and when he turned the sconce, he heard a clicking noise from the wall, and found that it revealed a secret passageway. A couple of other Ghosts had joined Sam and Jay at this point, one being Alberta who asked if Hetty knew about the secret passageway. Hetty seemed shocked and surprised, she had no idea of this being in her mansion for well over 100 years. Sam asks Mark what’s down the passageway. Mark responds that it’s good and motions them to follow him.

At the end of the passageway is a large, floor to ceiling vault. Sam asks if Mark is able to open it, he said yes and that it wouldn’t be cheap. He then leaves to go upstairs. As soon as Mark leaves, Hetty said that Elias must have built the vault to embezzle her riches. Sam asks if any of the ghosts could walk through the door and see if there were riches inside. Pete responds saying he’ll do it. Instead of going through the door, he bounces off of it. Thor then tries the same thing, running head first into the door of the vault. He bounces off the door with an even greater force than Pete. The vault is made from a material impenetrable to ghosts.

After it is revealed that the vault door can’t be walked through by ghosts, Sam asks Hetty if she has an idea for the combination Elias could have used. Hetty gives a combination that matches their wedding anniversary, which does not open the vault. Hetty then gives another combination, the maid’s birthday. Jay is able to then open the vault to reveal nothing inside. And then out comes Elias from the vault. While looking around the vault, Jay shines his phone’s flashlight on Elias’ withered corpse. The doorbell then rings, Sam says it must be Kenny and Liz, the old acquaintances getting married in the mansion. She and Jay both leave to greet them at the door.

With just the ghosts in the vault, Hetty asked if this is where Elias had been this whole time, trapped in the vault. Elias says yes and asks why she never sent anyone to look for him, to which Hetty responds that he never told anyone he was building the vault and she assumed he ran off with “one of [his] many floozies”. Elias reveals that once the vault maker completed the vault, there was debate over payment and also the paternity of his son, as Elias and the vault maker’s wife had “grown close”, and so he had locked Elias in the vault to suffocate.

Upstairs, Sam and Jay welcome Kenny and Liz to Woodstone B&B. Liz comes in very giddy and bubbly, assuming that her fiance Kenny was recording so they could post it to her social media. Sam asks if they’ll post any content from the mansion. Liz says she absolutely will, but is on a social media break at the moment.

In the living room, Elias, Trevor, Pete, Hetty, Sasappis, and Thorfinn all congregate. Elias is still in disbelief that he didn’t get into heaven and that he paid the church. Elias then asks if anybody else from the gilded age at Woodstone ended up as ghosts, namely the maid. Hetty responds that she went up, and added, “you syphilitic reprobate”. Elias did not like Hetty responding that way to him and asked where the change came from. Hetty then explains that as time has gone on, women don’t just defer to their husbands. She learned from Sam that when Sam doesn’t like something, she says so. Elias accuses Sam of being a dangerous influence on Hetty, Hetty then responds that Sam and Jay have a respectful marriage and that Elias was a terrible husband (and her least favorite cousin).

Elias then storms out, and accidentally walks through someone on staff for the wedding. As he leaves the room, the staff member spots Mark and asks if he wants to go into a room and have sex right now. Mark responds that he is married, but very flattered. The staff then comes to, asking what just happened, and scoffs at Mark after he told her she had hit on him.

Jay gives Liz a tour of the mansion, bringing her to the kitchen last. She’s asking about the dinner menu for the wedding. Elias then walks in, directly walking through Liz, making her horny. She then hits on Jay, and says, “All I can think about is grabbing your butt.” Jay goes to find Sam to tell her what happened. Sam doesn’t believe Jay at first, because Jay believed that the waitress from Olive Garden hit on him as well, when she really just works for tips. Sam asks Jay what did Liz say to him, after Jay told her, Sam realizes that Liz did in fact hit on Jay, and that they should tell Kenny.

Sam then walks into the TV room where Hetty, Thorfinn, and Trevor are all watching TV. Sam seems gloomy, as this wedding was supposed to be big for business, and if it didn’t go well, they would most likely have to sell the mansion, as they were close to defaulting on their loans. Elias then walks in the room and yells at Trevor to get his feet off of the table. He had it upholstered with the hide of a white rhinoceros, which are now extinct. Upon learning this information, he seems triumphant. Liz and Kenny’s rescue dog Rooney then runs through Elias’ leg and then starts humping a teddy bear in the corner. Sam realizes that the dog started acting that way after it had run through Elias, and asked if Elias had walked through any livings, specifically Liz, the bride. He says yes and asks why, Sam then realizes that Elias’ ghost power is that when livings walk through him, they get horny. Liz didn’t mean to hit on Jay, Elias had just walked through her. She then rushes out to tell Jay not to tell Kenny. Once Sam leaves, Hetty speaks up saying that Elias almost ruined the wedding and that Sam and Jay needed this to go well so they don’t have to sell. Elias realizes that if the wedding doesn’t happen, then they will leave. He then forms a plan to make sure the wedding doesn’t happen.

Jay finds Kenny in the kitchen and prepares to tell him that Liz hit on him. Before he get to tell Kenny, Kenny asks if this is another Cheesecake Factory situation, and that the servers work for tips. Sam then runs in the room to stop Jay from telling Kenny, and that everything has been cleared up, when Elias stands in the doorway. He then walks through Sam, making her horny, and Elias then walks through Jay. Because Elias walked through them both, it seems like they’re about to proposition Kenny for a threesome. Kenny starts yelling for Liz, who then comes in as Sam and Jay snap back to their normal selves. Kenny tells Liz that Sam and Jay propositioned him for a threesome. Sam and Jay are confused, as they don’t remember doing this. Isaac then speaks up saying that it was Elias that made them do that. To cover it up, Sam says that yes, they did do that, but it was to test Kenny’s loyalty and that he passed. Liz then calls off the wedding from happening at Woodstone and leaves.

Once Kenny and Liz leave, all of the ghosts and Sam and Jay sit in the living room. Sam and Jay are thinking that they’re going to have to sell, and Pete tries to help by giving them an idea of running a bake sale, like his troop did, Alberta tries to give a plan that involves a tommy gun, Trevor advises that they go to Bernie Madoff, who will “double their money”, and flower brings up that she robbed a bank once. Elias then walks in, asking if “the poors”, Sam and Jay have to leave. He says that it didn’t take long, and he would say how long, but his pocket watch, which he bought for $5000  no longer works in the afterlife. Isaac comes to the realization that if Elias has the expensive pocket watch on his ghostly person, then it must also be on his rotting corpse in the vault.

Sam, Jay, Hetty, Alberta, and Isaac all head down to the vault to get the pocket watch. Once they get it, they return upstairs with the rest of the ghosts. With the watch, they can sell it for a lot of money and be able to pay back the bank for the loans. Hetty expresses that she is very happy with this outcome, and then turns to Elias saying that she had another opinion, and there’s nothing he can do about it. Elias goes on to say that as long as he’s there, there will be no event that he doesn’t turn into basically an orgy. He wants Sam and Jay out, and he believes that they have corrupted Hetty. Hetty then comes to their defence saying that she changed for the better. She has learned from Alberta to speak her mind, and she learned from Sam that “the Irish are people too”. She believes that there is hope for Elias, as well, since they’re there for eternity, why not use it to change for the better? Elias, adamant in his ways, claims that he will never change, and that there is no good or evil. Hetty then calmly says that he should go to hell when a glowing, red, circular portal opens up in the floor, bringing Elias down into it, sending him to hell. All of the ghosts, and also Sam, are freaking out and screaming, the ghosts screaming the most, as now they have to worry about being banished to hell. Hetty, coming to realization of what just happened, wonders if that is her ghost power. She then attempts to send Trevor to hell, but with no success, as it is not actually her ghost power.

The ending scene opens with Sam and Jay sitting on the couch, Jay is excited about the new ghost lore, and has a lot of questions about how it happened. He asked if it was hot, if there was a screaming, and if country music was playing. Sam said that there was screaming, but it was from their ghosts, and not coming from the portal. Thor claims that he was not scared, and while looking up, he said it’s because he is working on being a better person and that he’s very open to change. Sam said the whole thing happened very fast, there was a red light and then Elias just went down. Alberta says that he went down on them, Sam starts to speak up, until Trevor interrupts saying if that’s the phrase they want to use, then that’s what they’ll say. Hetty then enters, making a joke about sending Trevor to hell. She says that she knows she doesn’t really have that power, but still tells Thor to move out of her seat. Thor easily obliges, letting Hetty sit just in case that really is her ghost power, stating that he “wasn’t comfortable there anyways.” as a cover up.
